Fun In The Sun

Ben's family has been in town so we've done a lot of fun things the last few weeks. Yesterday we went to the waterslide and had a blast! We were there for 2 1/2 hours and I think for a total of 2 hours, Mason went down the waterslide. Camden went down a few times but he loves to just swim around and jump into the pool. Avery even got in on the fun. She is so mellow in the pool. Last week we went to the rec center and I held her for two hours in the pool and she didn't make one peep. Even when she'd get splashed in the face, she was so content! I love that the boys are getting so independent in the pool. I don't have to worry much about them. Swimming lessons this summer gave Camden a lot of confidence with swimming with his life jacket on. Then there's Mason who is just a fish. He passed level 2 and asks daily when he can start level 3.

Sunday best

My sister sent this outfit from Texas when Avery was born. It's so cute and I couldn't wait until it would fit her...well, it now fits! Thanks Kari!

4th of July

What a busy, fun day! Our 4th of July holiday included: watching the parade, cutting down the tree in our front yard because 1/2 of it blew down in a wind storm, having a yummy BBQ and visiting with relatives we don't see often enough, going to GG's to do our fireworks and watch the city ones. I love that during the city fireworks they play music about our great country, I always get choked up.

Update on our sweet baby girl

We are having so much fun with Avery. She is such a good baby! Some things about our baby sis:

*She is a sleeping champ! She started sleeping 8 hours the first night at the hospital. At about 2 weeks she went to 10 hours each night and last night was the record...13 hours! She takes 3 naps a day with her afternoon nap lasting 3-4 hours.

*She has definately chunked out the last month. At her two month appointment she weighed only 9 lbs 11 oz. Since then I have stopped nursing (my body couldn't catch up with how much she needed to eat). She is eating 7-8 oz of formula and I'm sure at her 4 month appt she will be much higher on the charts.

*Her hair is growing back in! Yeah! She lost her dark hair she was born with and now lighter brown hair is growing. It's still a peach fuzz, but it's coming!

*I LOVE to make her giggle! It is the cutest thing in the world! She is very tickelish, especially around her neck.

I don't know what it is, but I still get teary eyed just looking at her. She holds a special place in my heart! We love our baby girl!!!

Kids Tri 2011

Mason participated in the Kids Triathalon this year and really had a fun time. He swam 50 yards, rode his bike 3 miles and ended with a 1/3 mile run. They did a raffle where every kid (around 90 participated) got a prize and I was really impressed with the prizes given out. Mason got a hydro pack backpack which he LOVES! Camden is already excited about doing it next year with his big brother!

Fathers Day

My kids are so lucky to have such a wonderful father! This framed picture is what Mason, Camden and Avery gave their dad for fathers day.

Blessing Day

Avery was blessed May 1st by her dad. We had a luncheon at our house afterwards. She was so happy and content all day, she must have known it was her special day! It's great to have such great support from friends and family!

Easter 2011

Saturday consisted of an egg hunt at the park, an egg hunt and BBQ at Ben's parents house, Ben going shooting with his family, Mason and Camden playing all day with their cousins and having a blast! Sunday was Avery's first day at church and she looked ADORABLE in her dress! The Easter bunny found us and gave the kiddos some yummy candy and fun toys. We had a nice Sunday dinner at my house with my parents and my two sisters and their families. It was a fun weekend full of family activities.

The shorter version of the story:
At my 39 week appt I was I dialated to a 2. If I hadn't had the baby by my next appt the dr would strip my membrains and we would go from there. But a few days later, I ended up calling the Dr and scheduling to be induced. My mom was here from Hawaii but was going to be in Salt Lake for 3 days because my dad was having surgery. So to make sure the baby came when my mom would be here, we scheduled to go into the hospital March 29.

7:00 am - We got to the hospital, did paper work, got hooked up to my IVs and they started my first dose of antibiotic for Group Strep B. I HATE this! My whole arm feels like it's on fire for about 1/2 hour. They try and get at least 2 doses of this in, one dose every 4 hours.

9:00 am - Pitocin was started.

10:30 am - The dr came in and broke my water. The fluid was a greenish color which meant baby had had a bowel movement. Because of this, they hooked me up to a hose that shot water inside to keep the fluid clean and flowing.

12:30 pm - Had the epidural. This part wasn't as bad as I had remembered. I was still only dialated to a 4 at this point.

2:30 pm - The nurse was checking me about every 15 minutes because I had been dialating fast. When I was at an 8, I started feeling the contractions more and more. I had the anesteciologist (don't mind my spelling) come in and up the epidural medicine.

2:55 pm - Dr. was called in, I pushed through 2 contractions and she was here! She was born at 3:03 pm.

*She had dark brown hair and the cutest chubby cheeks. It was love at first sight!*
